Katie Coeckelenbergh

Hometown: Port Aransas, TX
Locations: Costa Rica, Texas, Canary Islands, Madeira
Vessel: ON LOCATION - 57’ CAPPS Custom

As a kid in high school and then in college, Katie Coeckelenbergh spent her summers washing boats and working on the docks, hoping for the opportunity to get offshore. Although Port Aransas is an inshore fishing mecca, and she loves her trout, reds, flounder and tarpon, Katie always had a calling for the deep blue. She finally worked her way in to a Sportfishing operation and, quitting a career in the environmental field of Oil and Gas Development in 2014, moved to Costa Rica to work as a stew aboard the ON LOCATION – a 57’ CAPPS sportfish built in Virginia Beach, VA. In three years Katie went from being the boat chef to one of the best anglers in the cockpit. She is a proficient dead bait angler, fishing the waters of Costa Rica and Magdalena in Baja on lite tackle for sails and stripes, and a teaser angler, fishing the Costa Rica FADS 3 consecutive seasons for blue marlin. The boat & Katie are now on their way to their new home across the Atlantic in Madeira, Spain, where they will fish for giant blue marlin, tuna, & more.
