June 19 – 22, 2025 – The Place at Cabo, Cabo San Lucas, Mexico -
Pelagic’s Triple Crown of Fishing made its triumphant return to renowned fishing destination Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, to celebrate its 10th anniversary, a new tournament headquarters, and the opening of a new flagship Pelagic store. Twenty-nine teams, consisting of 139 anglers, along with friends and family, were treated to an elevated four days of competitive fishing, food, live music, and family fun thanks to our partnerships with Shimano Reels, Morita Gaffs, and custom art from gyotaku artist Dwight Hwang.

Day one greeted teams with brisk winds, rough seas, and unseasonably cold water; nonetheless, boats lined up just inside the famous Arch at Cabo early Friday morning and executed a flawless shotgun start at 7:00 am. While the fleet was excited and remained hopeful, patience and focus were tested as day one provided challenging conditions and slow fishing. Regardless of the conditions, the fleet kept grinding and at the end of day one, it was Captain Brett Eller and Team Overtime leading the scoreboard with five striped marlin releases. Close behind was Team Texas Hookers in second with two striped marlin releases, while Listo, No Limits Fishing, Stella June, and La Chingona all tied for third with one striped marlin each. Meanwhile, Team Will 2 Win 2 got on the board with a sailfish release for 50 points and a chance to compete on day two.

At the all-new weigh station at The Place at Cabo, Dale, Grace, and their team from Gricelda’s Smokehouse once again served as the official tournament weighmasters. Dale has been The Triple Crown of Fishing’s weighmaster since its first year, and he, along with Grace and the team, consistently do a professional job ensuring every fish brought to the scales is weighed and verified accurately.

The highlight at the scales for day one was a 36.2-lb. dorado weighed by Team Love and Luck and angler Stratton Slovick. This team travelled from Puerto Rico, chartering a local boat from the Picante fleet. Their gamble would pay off as they weighed the only dorado of the tournament to finish first place in the Dorado Division, earning a check for $34,800, a beautiful trophy from Marine Trophies by Torogoz, and a dorado-inspired custom bamboo gaff from Morita Custom Gaffs.

Local favorites and defending Bisbee’s Black & Blue Champions, Team Mas Crudo led the scales on day one and weighed what would be the largest tuna of the tournament at 84.8-lbs. Right behind them was Team Texas Hookers with a 53.2-lb. tuna and Team Captiva 3 with their 52.9-lb. yellowfin tuna. While there was no wahoo weighed on day one, day two would be a different story.

Day two saw a slight improvement in the fishing conditions and another safe shotgun start for the fleet. Everyone was excited as all categories remained wide open, and it was anyone’s tournament to win. Captain Evan Salvay and Team Stella June started things off with three quick striped marlin releases early on and it looked like they might be on a day two roll, something this team and those that compete against them are used to. But the momentum shifted when the Texas Hookers answered back with three striped marlin releases of their own, securing second place overall and pushing Stella June to third. Team La Chingona added to the drama with two striped marlin releases, keeping the pressure on. In the end, it was Team Overtime who held on for a narrow victory, adding a sailfish and a striped marlin release on day two. Their hard-earned win places their name on the prestigious perpetual trophy alongside past champions.

Things got exciting at the scales with a flurry of action and some late arrivals in the wahoo division. Several yellowfin tuna were weighed, including a standout 72-lb. tuna from Team Let’s Go, earning $15,160 in optional tuna jackpots and third place overall with a 99-lb. aggregate over both days. Let’s Go is no stranger to success in the tuna division—they've won it three times in a row and still hold the tournament record for the largest tuna: a 234-lb. yellowfin landed in 2021.
Meanwhile, Team More Good weighed 57.1-lb. tuna, good for $4,800 in jackpot winnings. But it was Team Mas Crudo who claimed first place, adding a 28.6-lb. tuna on day two to their 84.8-lb. fish from day one. They took home a $21,540 payout, the first-place trophy, and a custom gaff from Morita Gaffs.

The Wahoo Division was decided on day two, with all the top three fish weighed on the final day of fishing. Team No Pant$ Just Pole$ took top honors, earning $22,740, first place trophy, and a custom gaff from Morita for their 45.5-lb. wahoo. In second place was Team Captiva 3 weighing in a 42.8-lb. wahoo to win $26,600 in optional daily jackpots. Rounding out the top three was Team Will 2 Win 2 and their 22.2-lb. fish worth $1,160.
