Samuel Urbain grew up fishing in Belgium and currently lives in the Gulf of Saint-Tropez in southern France. Samuel started fishing in his home country with his father and great-grandfather, in search of freshwater fish. As a teenager, he joined the well-known "French Riviera" where he discovered sea fishing with his dad. Very quickly he acquired important skills in coastal fishing in search of Amberjack, Dentex, Grouper, Seabass, Bluefin Tuna, Spearfish. His biggest desire, though, was to catch swordfish. He began fishing for swordfish around 2012, and soon began pioneering the daytime quest for swordfish in the Mediterranean Sea. He now catches (and releases) numerous swordfish with great regularity, leading to top accolades from The Billfish Foundation’s “Tag and Release” program. Urbain has received three awards so far from the Billfish Foundation's international competition to date as Top Tagging Angler Atlantic Swordfish for the years 2017, 2019 and 2020.
