Sonny Jones has been a staple on the SoCal Long Range scene more than 25 years. Born in Charleston, SC, and now living in Southern California, Jones fishes and is chartermaster for multiple long range fishing trips out of San Diego – ranging from 3 – 15 days in length. Yellowfin, bluefin, wahoo, yellowtail, grouper – you name it, he’s caught it. His favorite fishing is targeting big tuna and surface iron fishing for yellowtail. He has been representing Pelagic on these trips for the past 18 years and loves sharing his love and knowledge of fishing with fellow passengers. His biggest accomplishment is catching a 307-pound yellowfin tuna on a live skipjack at the famed Hurricane Bank.
