Holiday Madness in More Familiar Waters

Between the Maximo, Salty, Cabo, the Gordo, Socorro, San Benedicto, the Jaime, Corbetania, El Banco, the Maria Islands, and beyond i'm beginning to have a hard time figuring out where i'm fishing lately. Live bait? Spreader Bars? Lures? Kites? Balloons? Chunking? Drifting? Trolling?

I'll scream something out from behind the binoculars, "BEN!!! SPREEEEEEEEADERBARS!!!!" only to look down and see Ryan and Oren looking up at me quizzically.

"HO! Jesus...sorry boys!" I'll counter, "guess i forgot where i was for the minute!"

While places, boats, and deckhands may change by the day lately, the view from the binoculars certainly has NOT. It seems everywhere i look the familiar canvas of chaos plays itself out on the horizon. Miles upon miles of beehives, spectacular foamers, and gigantic explosions.

"Sonofabitch....." i'll mutter under my breath from the tower as ten square miles of breaking fish fill the binoculars, and then "JESUSCHRISTBOYSGETTHETUNASPREADIN!!!!!!!"

It's been carnage of the most sincere biblical level since i returned to PV. Non-stop action, day in and day out, on open water tuna schools that by noon often send our anglers running for cover.

ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ and ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ and ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ as doubles and triples send the 80wides screaming while tunas of all shapes and sizes tear ass for the deep.

"JACKSON! GETCHER ASS OVER HERE!" Ryan will scream, but Jackson's smarter and running for cover.

"CHAD! COLIN! SOMEBODY!!! MAYDAY WE NEED SOME HELP OVER HERE!!!!!!" ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ.....

Hell even my daughter Soleille got in on the action yesterday, releasing a 150#er during a family outing for Kalum's tenth b-day.

Our tackle is ravaged, the mezzanine cushions are bloody, fillet knives are dulling, but we just keep CATCHING. It's been too long since we've seen wide open madness in the backyard like this.

Between the tunas at the islands here in PV, and the magic of the Rev's just a short hop away, if i had my druthers i'd say that this winter is shaping up to be one hell of a barn burner.

Santa, if you're out there, from all of us offshore addicts down here south of the border - THANKS FOR MAKING CHRISTMAS ESPECIALLY MEMORABLE THIS YEAR!!!!

We're out again tomorrow on the Maximo, and then the Barnes and Bogii show arrives for the New Year. What, pray tell, may we get ourselves into from here?!??!?!?
