Born and raised in a family of fishermen and surfers, Diego began fishing at age 7, learning from his father. He grew up in and on the ocean - surfing, fishing and spearfishing. His talents in surfing lead to more than a decade of Professional sponsorships and competition. He has won multiple Mexican National Surf Championship titles as well as wildcard entries into various WSL/ASP Surfing events.
Diego has extensive knowledge of the premiere fishing and spearfishing areas all around the Sayulita/Punta Mita region, as well as the neighboring offshore islands. He currently runs highly sought after personalized fishing, spearfishing and surfing tours out of his home town of Sayulita and is out on the water almost every day of the year.
